New Study Links 5 Disorders

Genetic Mutations

A study published online in The Lancet on February 28, 2013 has suggested that  schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, autism, major depression and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder all share many of the same genetic mutations that can lead to the onset of each of these disorders.  Which disorder is dependent on other genetic and environmental factors.

This fascinating research study sheds more light on the genetic links of autism and hopefully will guide researchers to find the exact cause of autism spectrum disorders.

A summary of the research findings and quotes from several of the researchers involoved can be found here.
